For thousands of years, plants have been used to promote healthy natural living. This is the basis for the Herbalism Certificate Programs at Denver Botanic Gardens. This series offers a unique learning experience to transform each student into a confident, knowledgeable and resourceful steward of plants. Classes are offered only as a full series.
Spring Herbal Certificate Program 101: Body Systems
Learn about the relationship between our body systems and the use of herbs. A variety of medicinal plants are introduced, including those grown at Denver Botanic Gardens and Chatfield Farms. Classes are led by some of the region’s most experienced herbalists. To earn the certificate students must attend 11 classes in person. Students have the opportunity to present a final project based on the cumulative knowledge gained during the course.

Summer Herbal Certificate Program 201: Hands-On Applications
This program offers a unique learning experience to transform each student into a confident, knowledgeable and resourceful steward of plants by introducing practical and powerful herbalism knowledge. Classes focus on a variety of medicinal plants, including ones grown onsite at the Gardens as well as those native to Colorado. Led by some of the region’s most experienced herbalists, students are guided through every step with a hands-on teaching approach. Classes take place in the classroom, in our gardens and out in the field. To earn the certificate, students must attend at least nine classes in person. Students have the opportunity to present a final project based on the cumulative knowledge gained during the course.
